This self-emptying robot that is budget-friendly does a good job on hard floors and carpets with low pile. The combination brush is able to reach corners and edges, and it automatically increases suction when it detects carpet. It also does an excellent job of cleaning dirt off mid-pile carpet. The IQ's compact footprint for docks and the self-emptying feature are both nice features. However, if you wish to change floor levels on the map, or set no-go zones you'll have to manually reset it in order to do this, which can be somewhat of trouble.

The IQ app offers some advanced mapping and automated features, but it does not have no-go zones. These are available only on iRobot robots. Its smart-pathing navigation system provides greater maneuverability, and its high-pile carpet cleaning mode cleans well, though it does have a tendency to get caught up on rug tassels, and its iHome speaker allows you to control the robot using voice commands.

In our tests, the IQ was capable of handling pet hair with ease, removing huge amounts of debris from floors with no flooring and fair amounts on medium-pile carpet. It was a little less effective on shag carpets where it struggled to reach dirt and dust that was embedded in the fibers. It was capable of maneuvering the legs of chairs and tight spaces as well as the wooden base of an IKEA step stool. It was a little slower on bare flooring but it was able to recover speed and did better than other robots that we tested.

The IQ is a better choice over the iRobot Roomba 694 for most uses. It has a bigger dust bin, lasts longer on a charge and is more capable of getting around obstacles. It has mopping tools that are able to clean up sticky mess. On the other hand, the iRobot is more durable and has fewer parts that require maintenance or replacement, incurs lower recurring costs and can even create virtual no-go zones using its companion app. It is able to even resume a cleaning session from the point it started if it runs out cleaning robots of battery before having completed the task. The iRobot can also be controlled with voice commands, which is an enormous benefit for many users.

Eufy 11S

The eufy RoboVac 11S robot vacuum isn't among the most advanced models, but it provides excellent cleaning power for a low cost. This vacuum was designed for consumers with a tight budget who don't need a complex mapping system, or an app to control it. This robot can run for up to an hour and comes with an remote, cleaning tool, AC power adapter, charging base, and additional filters.

The 11S is slim and sleek, with a tempered glass upper deck that covers plastic and is made to look like brushed aluminum. It's a nice change from the utilitarian and industrial designs of Roomba, Samsung and Neato.

In our tests, the eufy 11S was excellent at picking up larger particles and fine dust on hard floors. It was unable to thoroughly clean medium and high-pile carpets. The device is prone of bumping into furniture and people in its path. However, it is able to detect these obstacles using sensors. When it encounters them, it ceases to move and emits an alarm so that you can manually steer it around the obstacle and get back to work.

The BoostIQ mode is another great feature of the Eufy11S. It allows you to configure the robot to automatically adjust suction strength based upon the floor type and the level of dirt. The remote control makes it easy to direct the 11S to the desired location.

If you don't have a lot of furniture in the room you want to vacuum Single Room Mode is an excellent alternative. The eufy can spend 30 minutes cleaning the area it's assigned to.

You can also opt for Edge Cleaning which reduces the amount of time in each area to 20 minutes to ensure optimal battery life. This feature allows the eufy to move in a spiraling fashion cleaning edges and corners.

Miele Complete C1

The Miele Complete C1 is an excellent mid-range canister robotic vacuum and a top performer on carpet. Its performance on carpets with no floor is also outstanding. It can remove rice and other small particles effortlessly. The suction power doesn't decrease as the dirt bin fills. Its allergy-friendly design and air-sealed body will trap allergens to keep your family healthy. It comes with an onboard HEPA filter and a self-emptying dustbin, which means you don't need additional filters or a separate vacuum bag.

It's not as powerful as the more expensive models, but it's ideal for deep cleaning and taking on stains. It comes with two cameras in front that deliver a live feed to your smartphone. It also has one of the most advanced obstacle avoidance systems. It has a huge bin, an extended runtime and the ability to clean up quickly and without bumps.
